1985

“Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH" (STW) is founded by Wolfgang and Katharina Wiedemann on 1st July 1985. A high-precision pressure measurement system is developed and manufactured in rented rooms.

1989

Start of the development and production of electronic control units for mobile machines. The partner for these control units is Fendt from Marktoberdorf.

1994

Foundation of the "Kaufbeurer Mikrosysteme Wiedemann GmbH" (KMW) for the development and production of own pressure measurement cells on metal with the aid of thin-film technology.

1995

The first certification of both companies takes place acc. DIN EN ISO 9001.

1996

Market launch of the first standard control unit (ESX) for the automation of mobile machines.

1999

The number of employees rises above 100.

2000

Entry into digitalization with initial product developments in the field of teleservices.

2001

Foundation of the subsidiaries in Norcross, Georgia (Atlanta), USA  and in Bedford, England.

2001

With the development of high power density electric machines (powerMELA), the first step is taken in the direction of emobility.

2002

STW receives for the first time the "Bayerns Top 50 Unternehmen" (Bavaria’s top 50 companies) award. STW also receives this award in the years 2008 and 2014.

2003

The first certification of both companies takes place acc. ISO/TS 16949.

2004

Expansion of the company; the new construction also includes a 400 m² cleanroom for the production of thin-film sensors.

2005

STW receives the "Outstanding Performance Award" from AGCO GmbH.

2007

Introduction of the first 32-bit control units ESX-3Xx.

2008

Linux becomes the open standard operating system in the digitalization modules.

2010

Functional safety is introduced to the sensors sector: the first safety-oriented pressure sensor with Performance Level e (PLe) goes into series production.

2013

Ms Sonja Wiedemann and Dr. Michael P. Schmitt become members of the Management.

2015

30-year company anniversary; the turnover exceeds the 50 million Euro mark.
