The ESX control unit family covers all the requirements of modern machines with small, compact control units up to large, expandable and high-performance computers. From the second generation, right up to the innovative fourth generation, the special characteristics of this market are addressed with maximum demands on reliability, modularity and long-term availability.

With the new, fourth generation, STW uses the Aurix processor by Infineon for the realization of a new platform concept.

As a result, STW is extending the principle of a common processor architecture into a continuous concept. For the user, this means exceptionally portable and scaleable applications between control units, but also I/O modules and body control modules.

The configurability of the control units is based on two principles: Whilst the medium-sized and large control units - the XM and XL variations - are based on the principle of modularity through different expansion boards,  the compact versions - CM and CS - focus on inputs and outputs defined through software.

Both generations are freely programmable in the language "C" and in CODESYS. Likewise, MATLAB / Simulink is supported. The toolset and framework openSYDE, available from 2018, supports the development of the definition of I/O and CAN parameters and their assignment beyond the debug and test phase up to the commissioning, parametrization and in Service.

STW provides appropriate courses showing the quickest way to complete an application.
