The eDCU is the solution for the control and monitoring of drives.

The eDCU controls drives through a torque or speed control unit in accordance with J1939. The transition between these operating modes is regulated through the eDCU.
Furthermore, a superordinate power management ensures that only one output is provided to the drives, which the system is able to cope with. In this way, it is for example possible to deliver more power into the auxiliary units or the heating system.

Due to the EDC17 emulation, the control unit logs in to the vehicle bus like a diesel. This facilitates the integration of an electric motor into an existing diesel vehicle.

The eDCU monitors the speed, the torque and the direction of rotation of the drive components. The software has been developed in accordance with the ISO26262 standard.

Hardware and software
The hardware on which the eDCU is based is an ESX.3xm including an open programming interface for the expansion of the application.
